I poked at this a bit more, and I discovered just running
"racket/racket3m"  without any arguments prints

SIGSEGV MAPERR si_code 1 fault on addr 0x3ffbb9e4000

At a wild guess, maybe some change in 6.12 broke GC on s390x?
