IIRC, --redirect-main only applies to packages installed in installation scope, not packages installed in user scope. I don’t know why this is the case, and I don’t know if it’s a bug or a (mis)feature, I just vaguely remember running into that problem before when using --redirect-main. You might try moving everything into installation scope to see if that changes things.
