You are quite correct. However, the log file will show rejections at trace
level 3 (INFO), so you could use that for now. There is some additional
functionality in this area coming in the next release as well.
I also seem to remember that someone on the list had made some hacks for their
customer service people to see what had gone wrong with logins, so you may like
to have a look at the archive (this was several months ago from memory):
