The NAS uses the RADIUS protocol to authenticate.

The NAS sends an Access-Request to the RADIUS server which replies with either
an Access-Accept or an Access-Reject.

A RADIUS server may or may not be configured as a PROXY, as required in your

The NAS sends its requests to the RADIUS proxy, the proxy forwards to the
remote, the remote replies to the proxy, and the proxy replies to the NAS.
