Ernie : I don't follow the newsmagazines except occasionally. But the issue of women in Afghanistan is one that I have already circulated a series of photos showing acid attacks on women. I am well aware of the problem. It is similar to female genital mutilation --and BTW, Ayaan Hisi Ali is a victim. Not exclusive to Islam but a practice that flourishes in Muslim societies out of all proportion to non-Muslim societies. For example, there are some acid attacks against women in India and Burma. But in those cases the issue is very small scale criminality carried out by criminal groups which are regarded as such by India and Burma. With Islam you get large populations who promote the practice and accept it as a "good." Time magazine is to be commended for its coverage. Islamic law is antithetical to Western law in so many particulars that only the Politically Correct can't see it for what it is. In that context, I am surprised you didn't call out Time magazine -- in a good way -- for highlighting the fate of women in Afghanistan: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,2007238,00.html Graphic, but arguably necessary. -- Ernie P. -- Centroids: The Center of the Radical Centrist Community <[email protected]> Google Group: http://groups.google.com/group/RadicalCentrism Radical Centrism website and blog: http://RadicalCentrism.org -- Centroids: The Center of the Radical Centrist Community <[email protected]> Google Group: http://groups.google.com/group/RadicalCentrism Radical Centrism website and blog: http://RadicalCentrism.org
