Ground Zero Declaration

A group of political Independents has just launched a new website which
affirms
First Amendment rights to freedom of religion but that opposes the Ground
Zero mosque.
Centroids --a short form for Radical Centrists-- takes the view that many
traditional
Islamic beliefs are not compatible with the values all Americans cherish
and
regard as necessary for citizenship.

The site includes a copy of the Declaration and a place to sign to show
your support,
and a Resources section that features a Questionnaire for Muslims who wish
to
become US citizens. The questions, each of which quote the Qur'an, make it
clear
that on a minimum of 10 important matters of Law, many teachings of Islam
are
antithetical to American citizenship.

For this reason the Declaration calls on Muslims to reform their religion
if they wish to become part of American society. This is essential
--given how
diametrically opposed major parts of the Qur'an are to vital parts of the
U.S. Constitution.

This approach to the Ground Zero debate takes the issue to a whole new
level,
to the foundations of Islam itself. That is where the problem really lies

--for everyone who regards the Constitution as binding and essential for
all Americans.

We hope you will visit the site and add your signature to the Declaration
so we can send a message to our elected officials that we want a frank and
honest debate about Islam in America. All personal information you share
will be kept strictly confidential.
