David : There are two possibilities-- ( 1 ) Obama's speech was, in fact, largely written by Imam Rauf. ( 2 ) Rauf is lying or grossly exaggerating. Either way, my best guess, enough reason for the MSM to bury the story , to make damned sure it never sees the light of day. In case of ( 1 ), Obama made himself into a puppet of a Muslim imam. Well, if a private citizen wants to do so, maybe it is not too cool, but no crime and the worst anyone could say is that it would have been better for the speech to have been original. But for the president of the United States ? ? ? What if the prez delivered a speech written by Pat Robertson ? Think of all the fallout that would generate. Even now, with Islamification growing all over the place, this would still cause a Major Stink that would be much worse. The Dems could kiss goodbye to the Jewish vote, probably to the Catholic vote, and no question about it, to just about 100% of the Evangelical vote. And, O yeah, the Atheists, feminists and homosexuals would not be too happy, either. To be utterly sarcastic, African-Americans might even drop in support from 90% to 80 %. The Democratic Party would be in DEEP doo-doo. But Rauf may have overplayed his hand. Possibly all he actually did was suggest some ideas, with BHO maybe paraphrasing a few sentences, hardly that big of a deal But in case of ( 2 ) Rauf would look Real Bad and as leader of the mosque his credibility would go into the toilet. He would be seen as a bloated ego, if not as a fabricator and someone willing to compromise his most important political support for the sake of self-aggrandizement. This would have a lot of repercussions. Bloomberg would be on the spot. So would everyone who, up to now, has put their reputations on the line in support of the mosque. That means a lot of Big Names, Robert Reich, Dowd, Dione, and that whole gang. In pundit speak, the story would be murder. Question, will the Republicans make an issue out of this ? LOL. ROTFUL. They wouldn't dare. Why not ? The oil lobby. All such folks would poop in their britches. Pul-eeze don't offend the Arabs . We gotta have that oil, our profits depend on it. Let's not cut our own throats. etc, etc. The know-nothings. Such people are so poorly informed about religion in general and Islam specifically that they would be fish out of water and they know it. Better to stick with what they do know,so that they don't make fools out of themselves. The finance lobby. Main objective, don't let moneybags look stupid. If you do that, all kinds of Wall Streeters would take hits. And so forth. In other words, the story is pure dynamite. Also in other words, the best we can hope for is Samizdat, the Internet, and word of mouth. Makes me sick to think of it, a seriously hot story, censored before it gets out of the gate. One possibility. Libertarians. Much as I hate to say so, here is one area where the libertarians could make us all indebted to them. But how much "Republican money" keeps them going ? So, I wouldn't count on anything. But libertarians are a wild card. They just might. Another possibility. The Evangelical media. But problems with this. One too many equivalents of "Crazy Uncles" like Robertson and the Left media ( CBS, NBC, NYT, etc ) would try to discredit the story by association. "If ol' Pat says it, it must be false." Still, the Christian press and TV is far more than Robertson. There would be some serious convincing to do before responsible people would be willing to make this an issue, but it could happen. As for Fox News TV, allow me to be skeptical. Mostly because no-one there has the smarts to handle this kind of story, especially not Know-It-All O'Reilly, who dismisses almost everything to do with religion since he basically isn't interested. It is crucial to note that the Arabic version of Feisal Abdul Rauf’s book was published in Malaysia titled “A CALL TO PRAYER, FROM THE WORLD TRADE CENTER RUBBLE: ISLAMIC DAWA (SUMMONS TO ISLAM) IN THE HEART OF AMERICA POST-9/11." The interview with Hani Alwaziri dated February 7th, 2010 intended to discuss Rauf’s plans for what he terms “American Style Islam” and the Cordova Initiative goals for the U.S. Rauf later stated that his goal was “To establish an American style Islam in the United States” in which he explains his aspiration of spreading Islam in America by using flexibility and molding Islam to become palatable to the American culture while preserving the integrity of Islamic ideology: “If we look how Islam was spread from Hijaz (Arabia) to Morocco then Turkey, we note that Islam was shaped by the culture and society, hence showing a Muslim version of the architecture and culture and the arts, but with preservation of the framework of belief and worship. We need to provide a GLOBAL ISLAM in accordance with the nature of each society.” Rauf boasted about his towering structure by Ground Zero as: “an icon that will make Muslims proud, not only locally but globally.” His suggestion to Muslims on how to deal with western Christians and Jews was: “deal with them as one courts a pretty girl he wants to date; stop thinking like a typical Muslim. Then you can engage.” He also discussed how he courted Bloomberg and the Jewish Community boards that “we have inroads with the Jewish Community Center”. It is interesting that Rauf stated in Arabic to Hadielislam, another prominent Muslim think tank that: “people need to use peaceful means to advise the governors and government institutions…we also suggest to the governors and political institutions to CONSULT [MUSLIM] RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS AND [MUSLIM] PERSONALITIES IN THE FIELD SO AS TO ASSURE THEIR DECISION MAKING TO REFLECT THE SPIRIT OF SHARIAH.” In previous reports researched by the Walid Shoebat Foundation, it was revealed that Imam Rauf has made statements in the Arabic language - while appearing on Arabic media outlets - that completely contradict his moderate tone when speaking English, exposing him as a direct supporter of terrorism, both financially and verbally.
