Centroids :
As you may have noticed, all of my postings today have featured religious
theme
news stories. Today is a banner day for religion. Well, at least it is for
me.
GREAT NEWS ! Real Clear Politics, also known for Real Clear Markets and
Real Clear World, now has a Real Clear Religion section.

This is not to be confused with a separate Catholic-sponsored site also
called "Real Clear Religion," which has been up and running for some time
now.
Anyway, the Real Clear Politics version of Real Clear Religion is top rate,
lots of excellent material, timely, wide variety of topics covered, and
a real advantage for anyone who follows news of religion.

There may be a better way to access the new site --I presume it is new,
and have never stumbled across it until now-- but so far the secret seems
to be to do a Google search and type in, exactly like this :

"Real Clear World" "Real Clear Religion"

If you just type in "Real Clear Religion" you will get the Catholic site.
That site is also good, but, for some odd reason, it has a pro-Catholic
viewpoint
This is OK with me, but the Real Clear Real Clear Religion site is purely
Interfaith,
or, as the case may be with Atheist theme stories, Inter/anti-Faith.

Best issue ever of Biblical Archaeology Review, the November/December 2010
edition,
now on the stands. Well, maybe not every newsstand, but surely a few of
them. Somewhere.
The point is that this issue is outstanding. I have been a long term
subscriber but have
never seen anything like this.

Great story / interview about research into the historical Jesus, with one
of the best
living scholars of the subject. Fine story about the "alternative" Temple
of the
Samaritans at Mt Gerizim. Really good story about how the figure of "Danel"
( not "Daniel" ) mentioned in Ezekiel has a direct parallel in the Ugarit /
 Ras Shamra
texts which everyone here surely is familiar with like the back of your
hand.
OK, maybe not, but take my word, this is fascinating stuff, one-to-one
correlation
between a Biblical book and an ancient Pagan text of some reputation.

So, RUN, don't walk, to your nearest newsstand that has a supply of the
latest
BAR --as it is known affectionately by the cognoscenti-- without delay
and pick up your copy of this outstanding issue of Biblical Archaeology
Review.
You will be glad you did. Guaranteed.

Happy Comparative Religion Day
