Very sad.  That said, I saw a couple surprising things that I found encouraging:

There's Christians in the parliament?!?  That's gotta be unique in the Middle

12 Iraqi policeman gave their lives to save 70 Christians.  That says something 
positive about Iraq, despite the horrific violence.
