Someone at the WH, or all of the crew there, isn't too swift when it comes to PR. Basic to marketing are such considerations as what we might call the "acronym problem." You NEVER want the initials of a slogan to be taken for something you don't want to suggest. Yeah, Palin was all over WTF like snow on the East Coast this winter. How many times did she say "WTF" --the initials ? Maybe 5 times in two sentences. Reminds me of Nixon in 1972. Committee to Re-Elect the President. Safire came up with that one ( before he became a Times columnist himself ) The NYT took one look and had a field day with the acronym, CREEP. And I think that Obama is going to have trouble with his "Win The Future" slogan. Folks are already saying over here that WTF sounds about right. :-) I think that they didn't focus group that one very well, or the focus group was unfocused.
