David :
That isn't the problem. The issue either is my "new" ( reconditioned ) HP
computer
or it is Microsoft. Can eliminate Microsoft if you can try a little
experiment --
presuming your computer is not an HP. Hopefully this is OK with you.

Try to type something --anything-- using Arial Black font.

I can only get Arial Black italic. The standard font won't appear.
that's why I downloaded Arena Black --which does not register
with HP , unless it is Microsoft that is the problem. Ernie sent me
a screen shot and Arena shows up as ordinary Ariel.

Arena Black is looks exactly like Arial Black standard but is
"read" by the computer as a wholly different font.

Anyway, if you CAN get Arial Black to appear, standard vertical,
NOT on an angle / italics, then I will know for sure the problem is HP.

I've been using Arial Black standard for years as my basic headline font
Now all I can get is Arial black italic. Doesn't seem to be a problem
with any other fonts.

If you do get Arial Black standard, vertical, no slant, could you please
send ? A short note -"this is Arial Black standard" and I would know
that you sent it in that form. The text can be anything, such as ABCDEFG.

Arial Black is its own font, it is NOT the same as the other Arial style
fonts,
it is headline in style, bold black letters.

I spent maybe 1 -1/2 hours looking for Arial Black standard to download
and could not find it anywhere. Found lots of other fonts,
but not that one.

Thanks
Billy

You can probably download the missing fonts.

Can anyone tell me if what you see in the fonts below is exactly the same
thing ?

I had to add a substitute for Arial Black because, with my new HP computer
Arial Black only comes in italic style. No idea what idiot thought up
this lunacy.
Maybe he or she thought it was cute to make Arial Black available only in
italic.
Or : so what if a very standard and useful font is screwed up because
who cares about fonts anyway ?

Anyway, it is possible to find exactly the same font as Arial Black
but it is called "Arena" with another font foundry. Works just fine.

But can you read it the way it was actually typed in ?
The lower text is a screen shot and is exactly how I typed the text.
Are the two texts identical ?

Much appreciated if someone will let me know,

Thanks
Billy
