If I may ask, did you actually read more than a  paragraph or two of the 
paper ?
Reason for the question is that your "response" misses the point  entirely.
You usually are very perceptive and do actual research. But about this  
matter,
anyone could have said what you just did,  without  benefit of any research 
or serious thought.
 
While lengthy and maybe more time than you wanted to give the subject
( my mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts ? ), the paper is a  major
research project into which I put a lot of time and critical  thinking.
Yet in the end, a blow-off comment. Not what I would have  expected.

I'm  generally pretty supportive of gay marriage, but I agree that
"homophobia"  does not describe a religious or ideological aversion to
homosexuality,  when it doesn't lead to seizing terror.
