Time to revise my generalization about gas prices.
Below is a "scratch paper" set of calculations which
subtract state gas taxes from pump prices.
The BF is the tax rate, not counting sales tax.
Hence Montana, if you subtract state tax,
actually has the lowest fuel price in the nation.

The R or D after a state indicated party preference,  *  =  tossup state

Best I can conclude  --to do this right you'd need to do the math for all 50 states
plus add in the sales taxes--    if you are right next to Canada , if there are local
refineries, or perhaps an oil port,  you will do all right. But supply is only
part of the equation. Texas and Massachusetts are about the same.
WTH ?  Of course, last I  heard , Mass  ( CITGO )  gets a lot of Venezuelan oil,
but, still, you'd think that Texas would come in much lower per gallon.
I don't have a good explanation.

I rather doubt that political preference is all that potent. Look at Indiana / Wisconsin
one D, the other R.  Just about the same price.

No more time for this, maybe someone else wants to work with the material.
