Some of the students are smarter
than the universities think they are. My dear daughter. She had to take an "ecology" class and assignments were all on the internet. No printed material from the classroom. But YOU were expected to print things at home-using your ink and your paper-for the class assignments. So she learned that it is not about Ecology, but rather about eco-freaks feeling good that they saved the university ink and paper (which I thought tuition covered, silly me), never mind that you had to use yours, they were "saving the environment," just don't pay attention to what they had you print.
