The homosexual assault on King James . . This is new to me, claims by homosexuals that King James was homosexual / bisexual. . People who take the view that there is no need to reply to such accusations, that their own faith is sufficient, that these allegations cannot be true on principle, miss the point. Others are reading these accusations, accepting them at face value, and in the process are convincing still others that the man most responsible for the translation of the Bible which bears his name, was homosexual. . Below is the opening part of a Wikipedia article to the effect that James was bisexual and that this is 'proven fact.' There are no disclaimers and there are no references to articles that are persuasive to the effect that this line of argument amounts to posthumous libel. Nor does the article draw necessary logical inferences from facts its does cite, namely, that James enacted severe anti-sodomy laws and insisted that violation of these laws should never receive pardon. You would think that this means that the king regarded homosexuality as abhorrent and criminal and had no tolerance for it. Instead the entire article draws on homosexual sources which are treated as reliable, no questions asked, which take the view that the openly stated values of James meant virtually nothing. Following the excerpt from the Wikipedia article is a short statement from Dr. Phil Stringer at baptistbecause.com/Tracts/kingjames.htm, entitled : The Real Story of King James I. . This is a summation of religious defenses of the king similar to those that can be found elsewhere, for example, Stephen A. Coston's "Royalty, Rumors and Racists" available on the Web, which is another defense of the monarch from accusations of homosexual conduct. . The trouble with such pious statements is the set of assumptions that go with them to the effect that the only way to even treat the issue is by way of declarations of one's faith, and a tone of righteous indignation. To say the least, this "poisons the well." Without objective tone and format, modern readers are likely to be dismissive of such rejoinders and regard them as probably false precisely because of their piety --which is often seen as indicative of closed-mindedness and disinterest in scholarship. . Next, there is a copy of advertising for a new edition of the Bible called the "Queen James Version." This is homosexual argot for sexual degenerates like themselves. The text that is part of the advertisement makes the specious claim that there are only 8 verses in the Bible that condemn homosexuality out of many thousands of verses, therefore, by implication , these verses don't really count. As if, because the Bible only mentions, say, slander, a limited number of times that this means that the problem is inconsequential and that if you wish to smear other people feel free to do so. . As for the false claim that there are only 8 verses in the Bible that criticize homosexuality ( sodomy ), there actually are a minimum of 25 verses --from 10 books in each Testament-- with some passages, like those found in Romans 1, fairly lengthy and detailed. Far from being a sort of footnote to the text of the Judeo-Christian scriptures, this issue has major importance and it is made clear that these always strong condemnations are not negated by other passages , whether in the Old Testament / Hebrew Bible or the Sermon on the Mount in the New Testament. . Finally there are examples of a few of the sites referenced by Google to find discussions of King James and his alleged homosexuality. . To refer to the Wikipedia article again, at least there is a semblance of objectivity in it. We are told that James fathered no less than eight children with his wife Anne of Denmark and that, along the way, the king had an affair with "Anne Murray, later Lady _Glamis_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glamis) , whom he addressed in verse as "my mistress and my love." . This is supposed to be consistent with being a homosexual ? . When will Christians start to take the homosexual assault on our culture seriously enough to reply with even a tenth of the energy and effort and research as they have on the issue of abortion ? My honest answer and best forecast : Never. Their ideology and their preoccupations and desire to live in contemporary society as modern Americans precludes any such thing. Yes, thankfully, there are exceptions. But otherwise I understand that this is a fight that I must make on my own, with no help from anyone. That is just how it is. It does not change even one thing ; homosexuality is a psychopatholgy, a grievous mental illness, and the worst of moral failings, and must be opposed and stopped. . . Billy . . . . . ________________________________________________________________ Personal relationships of James VI and I >From Wikipedia
The personal relationships of _James I of England_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_I_of_England) included relationships with his male _courtiers_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtier) and his marriage to _Anne of Denmark_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_of_Denmark) , with whom he fathered children. The influence his _favourites_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favourite) had on politics, and the resentment at the wealth they acquired, became major political issues during his reign. Growing up, James (b. 1566) did not know his parents — his father, _Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Stuart,_Lord_Darnley) , was murdered in 1567, and his mother, _Mary, Queen of Scots_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary,_Queen_of_Scots) , was forced to flee when she married the suspected murderer, _James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hepburn,_4th_Earl_of_Bothwell) . Two of his grandparents died before he was born; his grandfather was killed in a skirmish while James was still a boy, and his grandmother lived in England. He had no siblings. His first documented male favourite, at the age of 13, was his older relative _Esmé Stewart, 1st Duke of Lennox_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esmé_Stewart,_1st_Duke_of_Lennox) . James adopted a severe stance towards sodomy using English law. His book on kingship, Basilikón Dōron, (_Greek_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_language) for "Royal Gift") lists _sodomy_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodomy) among those “horrible crimes which ye are bound in conscience never to forgive”. He also singled out sodomy in a letter to Lord Burleigh giving directives that Judges were to interpret the law broadly and were not to issue any pardons, saying that "no more colour may be left to judges to work upon their wits in that point." However, nearly two centuries later, _Jeremy Bentham_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Bentham) , in an unpublished manuscript, denounced James as a hypocrite after his crackdown: "[James I], if he be the author of that first article of the works which bear his name, and which indeed were owned by him, reckons this practise among the few offences which no Sovereign ever ought to pardon. This must needs seem rather extraordinary to those who have a notion that a pardon in this case is what he himself, had he been a subject, might have stood in need of." ____________________________________________________________________________ __ . _The Real Story of King James I_ (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=king+james+homosexual+evidence&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CDEQFjAA&url=http:/ /baptistbecause.com/Tracts/kingjames.htm&ei=hXnPUMjMCcjoiAKMtYFI&usg=AFQjCNF 6bPQOh-l3H-i-_vVF1Bjg6HggtQ) baptistbecause.com/Tracts/kingjames.htm The Real Story of King James I by Dr. Phil Stringer WAS KING JAMES REALLY THE UNGODLY MAN THAT HIS MODERN CRITICS PROCLAIM HIM TO BE? MISUNDERSTOOD CUSTOMS OF THE TIME ...King James's critics ask: isn't it true that King James publicly kissed men on the cheek and called men affectionate names like darling and sweetheart? Didn't men routinely sleep at night in his bed? Didn't King James often lean on male members of the royal household? These allegations are true. Similar evidence is also used by modem homosexual activists to assert that William Shakespeare (a contemporary of King James) was a homosexual. But this is all a misreading of the customs of the time. ...Assassination of royalty was a common event and it was a customary thing for kings to have bodyguards sleep in their bed. No one accuses the promiscuous, womanizer, Henry VIII of being anything but a heterosexual. Yet he routinely slept with bodyguards in the royal bed. King James survived two kidnappings and four violent attempts on his life. Such experiences did nothing to cause King James to break with the normal procedure of always keeping his bodyguards close at hand. In sharing his bed with royal bodyguards, King James was only following the normal practice of the royalty of his time. ...Terms of affection like "sweetheart" and "darling" were normal terms used between men in the seventeenth century in England. In Psalm 22:20, God the Father calls Christ the Son "My Darling." He does so again in Psalm 35:17. In the 1990's African-American women routinely called each other "girlfriend." This is not a homosexual term but a normal expression of the time. Anyone who presents the use of terms like "sweetheart" and "darling" as proof of homosexuality in seventeenth century England is a very shallow historian (or has a very vulgar mind). King James (or for that matter William Shakespeare) does not deserve such treatment. ...Men kissing men as a form of greeting was a common innocent custom in seventeenth century England Oust as it is in twentieth century France). ...Erasmus wrote of the English: "Wherever you come, you are received with a kiss by all; when you take your leave, you are dismissed with kisses: you return, kisses are repeated, They come to visit you, kisses again: they leave you, you kiss them all round. Should they meet you anywhere kisses in abundance: in fine, wherever you move, there is nothing but kisses." ...Before evil minded men are quick to present this as proof of homosexuality, perhaps they should remember that this was also a common custom in Bible times: "Greet ye one another with a holy kiss." 1 Corinthians 16:20 (see also Luke 7:45, Romans 16:16, 2 Corinthians 13:12, 1 Thessalonians 5:26:1 Peter 5:14, Acts 20:37). ...Because of the weakness of his legs James often leaned on members of t he royal staff as he was dealing with official business. Such a position is not unusual for a king (2 Kings 7:2,17). John leaned on Jesus (John 13:23, 21:20)· Homosexual activists toy to claim this as proof of homosexuality on the part of Jesus but Bible believers are quick to see through such foolishness, (Titus 1:15)· ...Anyone interested in the truth would be willing to understand King James's behavior in the light of the customs of the day. . ___________________________________________________________________________ . _Juicy Ecumenism_ (http://juicyecumenism.com/) ~ The Institute on Religion & Democracy's Blog Dec 13, 2012 Queen James Bible? Posted by _Bart Gingerich_ (http://juicyecumenism.com/author/bgingerich/) in _News_ (http://juicyecumenism.com/category/news/) What follows is the official announcement for the recently published _Queen James Bible_ (http://queenjamesbible.com/) . Please enjoy…or not. Homosexuality in The Bible Homosexuality was first mentioned in the Bible in 1946 in the Revised Standard Version. There is no mention of or reference to homosexuality in any Bible prior to this – only interpretations have been made. Anti-LGBT Bible interpretations commonly cite only eight verses in the Bible that they interpret to mean homosexuality is a sin; Eight verses in a book of thousands! The Queen James Bible seeks to resolve interpretive ambiguity in the Bible as it pertains to homosexuality: We edited those eight verses in a way that makes homophobic interpretations impossible. Who is Queen James? The King James Bible is the most popular Bible of all time, and arguably the most important English language document of all time. The brainchild and namesake of King James I, who wanted an English language Bible that all could own and read, it has been in print for over 400 years and has brought more people to Christ than any other Bible translation. Commonly known to biographers but often surprising to most Christians, King James I was a well-known bisexual. Though he did marry a woman, his many gay relationships were so well-known that amongst some of his friends and court, he was known as “Queen James.” It is in his great debt and honor that we name The Queen James Bible so. A Fabulous Bible The QJB is a big, fabulous Bible. It is printed and bound in the United States on thick, high-quality paper in a beautiful, readable typeface. It is the perfect Bible for ceremony, study, sermon, gift-giving, or simply to put on display in the home or Church. You can’t choose your sexuality, but you can choose Jesus. Now you can choose a Bible, too. Editorial notes can be found _here_ (http://queenjamesbible.com/gay-bible/) . They speak volumes about the assumptions and philosophy of the translators, especially to Christians familiar with scriptural interpretation and hermeneutics. ____________________________________________________________________________ ._King James of KJV Bible Fame - Massive Evidence Of His ..._ (http://www.ministers-best-friend.com/King-James-Evidence-Of-His-Homosexuality.html) www.ministers-best-friend.com/King-James-Evidence-Of-His-Homos..._Cached_ (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:8UYesrMny_kJ:www.ministers-b est-friend.com/King-James-Evidence-Of-His-Homosexuality.html+king+james+homo sexual+evidence&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us) You +1'd this publicly. _Undo_ (http://www.google.com/#) King James Homosexual, Editor of the famous KJV Homosexual Bible, All the World knows his Blatant Homosexuality EXCEPT Bible Christians: who WORSHIP ... --- _The Secret Life of King James_ (http://www.freewebs.com/jupiter1024/james.htm) www.freewebs.com/jupiter1024/james.htm_Cached_ (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:lBQKie_GYegJ:www.freewebs.com/jupiter1024/james.htm +king+james+homosexual+evidence&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us) - _Similar_ (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&tbo=1&biw=1105&bih=765&q=related:www.freewebs .com/jupiter1024/james.htm+king+james+homosexual+evidence&sa=X&ei=hXnPUMjMCc joiAKMtYFI&ved=0CD0QHzAC) You +1'd this publicly. _Undo_ (http://www.google.com/#) James IV and I is arguably the most well-known king in British history (regarding his ...
