Poppycock. Marriage existed before the State, and will outline it. The 
Libertarians turned out to be right: we were (and are) fools for obsessing over 
the Law, rather than living by the Spirit. 

That said, I agree with the larger argent that this us a turning point in the 
divorce of Church and Culture. But it was a pretty dysfunctional marriage all 
along. :-P
