Any excuse to defend the Democratic Party even when it is anti-Semitic. The whole point of the article is that, in fact, academic anti-Zionism is no different than anti-Semitism. Hell, I came across any number of Leftist anti-Semites at the University of Oregon in 2008- 2010. From everything I've read things are basically the same at 90% of universities. Sure, a small percentage are Right wing "old fashioned" anti-Semites; I knew a number of them also. But most are Lefties / Democrats. Same crap in Europe where anti-Semitism of the Left is just as bad, and in just about every country. Like I said, your religion is the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is revealed by God, it makes no mistakes, any criticism is heresy and evil, Obama is Jesus. Any problems are rationalized away as if they don't exist. The Republicans are wrong 100% of the time. What really gets me, though, is how obvious the anti-Semitism among Democrats is, yet even Jews rationalize it away. I prefer an actual religion. At least that way you know it is a religion. Democrats of today, most of them, have made the party their "faith." They may call themselves Christians or Jews but their actual religion is the party. It has all the earmarks of a religion. They don't believe in an actual religion but neuroscience tells us that people are hard-wired to have religious dispositions, views, attitudes, etc. So, instead of following the Torah or the Gospels they follow the party. Even when it is anti-Semitic. Is there a glaring discrepancy? There is an easy solution: Psychological denial. Insist the discrepancy doesn't exist, deny it psychologically. Believe it does not exist. I really don't see the difference between that and the most off-the-deep-end Haredi or Christian inerrantist. It is nothing at all like the Democratic Party of years ago. This is not some sort of praise for the Republican Party which, as I've said many times, has all kinds of limitations, especially the fact that it remains the party of the rich. But the anti-Semitism of the Democratic Party is one helluva serious development and it can't be wished away. Billy
