Indeed, when I happen glance some white big-name TV preachers, I feel a sense of paternalistic arrogance from them. I certainly do not want to behave or to be perceived like that... a reason to have me keep a more quiet profile. On the other hand, the inspiring gospel choirs that grew from the black church make public expression of religiousness more acceptable and full of joy.

White religiosity (for various reasons) is associated with paternalistic arrogance -- the way black anger is stereotypically tied to uncontrolled violence. It is probably no coincidence that liberal religion tends toward fatherlessness, white guilt, and permissiveness...
