Let's label that statement (I). I think that (I) is not the optimal way to frame the problem. I would say it more simply as: (II) How do we get other people to care about what we care about?" There are lots of people who love solving intellectual problems like crosswords who could care less about saving Iraq. There are lots of really smart debaters in Congress who care squat about helping human beings. But when people care, they are more than willing to put in ridiculous amounts of energy to solving a problem. Look at teenagers memorizing song lyrics (or trying to outwit their parents :-) More importantly, when phrased that way, the answer is obvious: 1. We care about them. 2. We show them we care about what they care about 3. We teach them care about us Do those, and (II) will follow. Hard. But simple. > That is too bad. And for so many smart people here it is incredibly stupid Because, as a wise man once told me "Most people habitually oversimplify complex issues and force them to fit preconceived categories that they already know". :-) This isn't about intellectual curiosity. It is about emotional connection. - Ernie P. -- -- Centroids: The Center of the Radical Centrist Community <[email protected]> Google Group: http://groups.google.com/group/RadicalCentrism Radical Centrism website and blog: http://RadicalCentrism.org --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Centroids: The Center of the Radical Centrist Community" group.
