Technology isn’t really the problem.  Cultural nihilism and the utter failure 
of the church to articulate a coherent, positive, intellectually sound gospel 
is the problem.  Technology addiction is just a symptom.

To be sure, there are a lot of transhumanists and singulatarians in Silicon 
Valley who are espousing a particular ideology and baking it into their 
products, to a greater or lesser extent.  But I think they (and others) vastly 
overestimate their impact on culture.  Most of us humans still enjoy being 
physical beings more than we fear death.

Mostly we play with tech gadgets too much because we are bored, not because we 
believe they will save us.  As such, they really aren’t any better (or worse) 
than television.  Which admittedly may not be saying much...
