* _Evangelist: Church Failing Millennials by Not Giving Them a 'Cause'_ (http://www.christianpost.com/news/evangelist-church-failing-millennials-by-not-giving-them-a-cause-117073/) This is a headline from the current issue of the Christian Post. Unfortunately I cannot send the article; hell, except for a few sentences I cannot read the article. Does anyone have a connection to the CPost? Whomever is now making decisions at the paper has set out to totally ruin it. It now features full page pop-ups that you can't get rid of unless you close all tabs and the paper itself disappears, and it also uses audio that is intrusive and unwelcome. And you cannot copy anything, nor do the features work whereby you supposedly can send a copy of an article to yourself via e-mail. And, of course, I cannot type this in normal font since the CP. even copying a headline, takes over your e-mail and only permits BF. The CPost still allows you to copy its headlines but not a word of any of its stories. This is absurd and stupid beyond all belief. As much as I can tell from what little I was able to read of the article, not much, the point is that millennials do not see where Evangelical Christianity offers them a cause to believe in. To which I would suppose that Evangelicals would say that their's is the cause of Christ. I get this impression partly from the Nazarene church I have attended recently. Its not that emphasis on the well being of the family is "bad," on the contrary it is all for the good, but it must be said that there is precious little to believe in that can be called a "cause" outside of that. And the theology involved is utterly simplistic. Which, (said sarcastically) is sure to inspire the thoughtful young with a lot to seriously reflect upon. Like, "what am I dong here? This place is meant to appeal to people who are dead from the neck up." This is religion that exists in a bubble with very little connection to the real world. No-one in that bubble "gets it" that much more is needed than repackaging the same ol' old-time-religion, with more catchy tunes and more informality. Those may be necessary steps but they are so far from what is really necessary that the distance to go is a million miles. BR
