It's synonymous with "reasonable" I think it means they don't know what "alt" means. It's like "neo"; stick it on the front of an adjective, and bam!, instant insult. neo alt center moderate liberal Say the words! Moderate extremist! We're far center. Well I expect this will be a controversial statement but the "alt-center" is the pro-nuclear movement. Immune to criticism and pushing something that is outside the mainstream because it's just not very good.
