Ernie: After reading Daniel Pipes' article for yesterday and the latest for today, I wonder what, exactly, can be done towards bringing about a reformation in education -by which I mostly mean university education. What would it take to pull off an actual educational reformation? I don't mean -don't necessarily mean- innovations in technology OR social innovations like "home schooling for adults," viz., online ed. There is one model that offers potential, Create-Your-Own University. Falwell did it and Liberty University seems to be headed for something like big time even if not exactly Ivy League big time. Pat Robertson has Regent U and it is at least a modest success story. Of course, there is some offset when thinking about two duds, Bob Jones U and Oral Roberts U, which have, as I see it, sub-standard standards of education, so let's stick with Liberty and Regent. The do it yourself model works. But what about the 1000 existing universities out there, and their massive impact? How do we change things such that they cease to be hotbeds of Leftist crap? That's the real question. For that matter, if we do look to the startup model as a positive good, how do we ensure that the Bob Jones / Oral Roberts versions are totally marginalized and can be safely ignored? Billy
