Make this Friday a discussion about what makes for constructive conversations. As an alternative to predictable debates or mindless rambling. Both to shape future podcasts, and to help define Franklin Forums (or whatever we come up with). Homework is study various forms of deliberation. Chris to wear moderator hat "as needed" to keep us focused on the (proposed) question: "How to best structure a group discussion for both accurate information and listener interest?" Sound like a plan? Revisions? A good question for us to dig into would, by itself, solve most of the problem. I am happy to go along with anyone's suggestion if it is thoughtful. Chris asked if he should act as moderator rather than participant. This is up to him but I think his participation is a real plus. However, he does have moderator skills and we need that. How about if Chris has the role of both participant and, when needed, is empowered by the authority of the state to act as Judge of the Circuit Court? That is, if he thinks we are getting off track, not doing what we should, he should feel free give us advice that we would then all go along with as a matter of principle. Chris is sort of the Radical Center among Radical Centrists, how I think of him, and maybe others feel the same way.
