Book update The Power of Popular Culture has reached a milestone; chapter 10, of 15 chapters, is now complete except for finishing touches. It will be sent out as soon as all seven (7) parts of the chapter have been proofed. There is a slight change to the chapter title, it now is: Sufi Saints, Sufi Sinners, and Sufi Alternatives The "Spiritual Alternatives" heading was dropped because nearly everything that I wanted to say on that subject has been put into words in "The Lost Gospel." But "Sufi Alternatives" seemed advisable because some Sufis are neither saints nor sinners as those words are commonly used, but simply represent alternatives to dominant Sufi traditions. About "The Lost Gospel," it has been necessary to re-title the gospel in question The Gospel of Nathan. It turns out that someone else made use of the "The Gospel of Nathaniel" title in a 2015 composition available on the Web that is totally unrelated to my faux scripture. "Nathan" can be read as a short form of Nathaniel and Nathan fits the pattern of simple one- or two- syllable names for the canonical gospels. There also is a Nathan in the Hebrew Bible / Old Testament, although he is basically unrelated to themes in the new 'gospel.' I think you will agree that chapter 10 is controversial and will generate a good deal of discussion about Sufism in America. As is true for nearly everything I write, nothing in it is what anyone could possibly expect. B. Rojas May 12, 2017
