There was a vintage Buck Rogers cartoon that featured futuristic football played
in the Solar System League. The field was 1000 yards long, divided into increments of 100 yards. Amazing for the time (ca. early 1950s) there was instant video replay. The "players" were gigantic robots with a human in the "cockpit" directing the robot's movements. Stadiums had seating for 250,000 fans. The team from Mars was called the Green Ray Smackers !!!
