I was tempted to just shut RC.org down after Billy left, but I realized I still have some projects in mind that would actually fit better here. So, I have decided to pivot RC away from intellectual debate towards promoting emotional health. People don’t really need more facts, they need the emotional resilience to be able to cope with the unpleasant but true facts they have already been exposed to (and rejected, in order to protect their constructed identities). There is actually a burgeoning industry around social and emotions learning in schools, as well as emotional intelligence at work. To capitalize on and accelerate that, I am trying to jump start a new holiday: EQnox. We already have a team at my office building the “prototype” celebration. We are fortuitously taking BlueEQ training on Sept 12th, so I’m starting discussions with them and other vendors about promoting the holiday as well.
