This is sent to both Josh and the list (to kill two birds with one stone).
1) I got the Baofeng GT-3 and the Nagoya NA-771 (or any of my antennas fit due to the waterproofing they've done with the antenna connection point)...how would I shave down the plastic (I'm completely stupid in this regard)...currently uses my Baofeng UV-5R Plus (which by the way is a great radio...
2) Do you have any suggestions for a connection adapter that works for sayy connecting Bose headphones to a transceiver (I wouldn't be transmitting...this is mainly so I can sit and listen to the Metro North frequency as I ride the train and listen to the frequency that Grand Central uses (both of which I programmed into my radio)
3) Josh this one is for you...do you know if you could keep your ears to the ground and let me know of any ARES events that could make use of some hams up in the Orange or Dutchess County area of NY? I contacted the section manager but have yet to get a reply from him..I'd love to help out with the stuff in the city but to make it I'd have to camp out in the city overnight as I love pretty far (Brooklyn is AT LEAST 2-3hrs away...Queens even more!)
PS Also of note: I managed to hit the repeater on top of Mount Beacon -- KC2DAA and (I'm not sure if I got heard but had a lovely QSO with some people...I was about as awkward as I am in real life...but whatever. Up where I live I'm likely to get retired people...not anybody close to my age...Still I was able to hear the repeater which is 10.4 miles away[1]...
