After looking at your site Steve - you definitely do appear to be a busy person! But, as Rob correctly stated, it's pretty basic knowledge for the Tech license. For me, the hardest part was remembering the band plan limits, but you only have to remember a few.

I think it would be cool if HM put together a Field Day team to compete against local makerspaces and radio clubs.
Where the hell do you string a dipole in Midtown though lol?

Steve, I crammed for my license in a week -- actually it might have been
slightly less than that -- it's possible...at least for technician...for
general and extra might take more work but still probably possible...I can't
say I remember much of what I studied though -- it worked well for short-term
memory...not so much for long-term...

Paul, I too, also love your site!

Thanks for the welcome.
And yes, I too like my http 503 lol.

There is nothing stopping you from getting your license.
2 hours a day for a week, and you'll be there.
Remember of course there is no code requirement.
I would be happy to tutor you in exchange for something that would help
me - if you thought you might learn easier that way.

I am looking to network and meet new people who can help me get a job
and whom I can in someway give back to them. I live in Hells Kitchen.
Would you like to meet for coffee or whiskey sometime?

Paul

     Hello

Paul here, KC8SGJ, I'm 27. I just moved to NYC and am trying to
find community with other nerds. I live in Hells Kitchen.
Security from bare metal to layer 7 is my focus. I enjoy hardware
hacking and breaking things in ways they were not meant to be broken
so that they do my bidding. I currently am focusing on breaking UEFI.

On the radio side, I love amateur digital modes. I'd love to get
involved with any Packet Radio scene here in the city. I have
2M/440 and HF rigs but no practical way to get a stick high enough.
I do have 5Mhz tx capability. I also enjoy fox hunting and used to
     compete in Ohio.
I have a bit of experience with commercial data RF point to point
     systems.

I wanted to reach out to the radio group to get a feel for things
before I engage the entire community.
I would appreciate any guidance along the way and I look forward to
     contributing to the group!

     Thanks so much!
