I am going to make the battery myself. They're just 8 NiMh AA cells. Must fit perfectly inside two holders that 4 cells each, and that are glued together.
Alternatively bind 8 together using shrink tube. All cells should be connected together in series, so as to add up their individual voltages: 8 x 1.2 V = 9.6 V The Radio's connector will reveal it's correct polarity because it's supposed to charge the battery. So it will have a measurable voltage on the pins (as long as the Radio is connected to the mains). The positive (+) pin of the Radio must be connected to the positive(+) terminal of the battery pack, the negaive to the negative.
