My statement about logic on the pack is that there are so many inexpensive smart charging IC's from folks like Maxim that can do advanced charge techniques on NiCad and NiMH pack with very little cost.. The only real reason to have actual logic chips on the pack are to keep them from blowing up. LiIon packs are the example. To put the added cost of on-pack IC's for NiMH would be the work of a rookie engineer... who would soon be jobless...
