Maybe I'm missing something in your example, but pressing the power button on the SB Radio doesn't necessarily start playing music. At least it doesn't for me. Have you tried it (sometime when it wouldn't wake someone)? If it does start music playing then you can change that via some settings, the specifics of which I don't recall right now.
I often encounter the two examples you give.
