Well I've had my Radio for a few days so thought I'd post some
comments.

I prefer the metal speaker cover, and rubbery plastic finish on the
from of the Boom to the cloth and hard plastic frontage of the Radio.
Also the illuminated buttons is something I miss from the Boom
(especially as the Radio is designed more for bedroom use). I guess
this is all a mater of opinion and some people will hate the rubbery
feel of the Boom. :)

I haven't played with the alarm clock, so I'm not going to comment on
that! All I'll say is I hope the issues I've read about are sorted
soon.

Relative to the Boom (and SB2) I miss the configurability and general
control over settings from the SBS interface. The fact that you can't
configure the Radio UI from the SBS (amongst other features) gives the
Radio a "hurried" feel. I see where Logitech is going with the Radio
and Touch - to make it less dependant on SBS for people who do not run
it on their home network - but I think something has been lost that made
SqueezeBox special. I am hopeful that some of this lost configuration
ability through SBS can be restored.

Talking of lost things, is it possible to configure the size of the
text on the Now Playing screen? Most of my MP3s don't have cover-art,
so most of the small screen is wasted. It would be nice if the song
detail text could be made bigger.

And to the VU meter. I just love the full-width VU meter on the Boom
(and SB2). Are there plans to add this functionality to the Radio? The
little LCD screen is growing on me, but it needs to do stuff while it's
playing.

Overall I do like the Radio. It's an interesting change for
SqueezeBox: new LCD screen, less of the "slim" and more of the "fat".
And I look forward to looking at the inards and perhaps trying out some
LUA programming. If I can ever figure out how to install plugins :)
