The Boom is altogether a more mature product (the guts of it are about 5 years old). The Radio clearly has "teething troubles. It's still a lovely device though. Give it a couple of firmware revs.
My Radio has not done what you describe, but it's certainly acted odd. A couple of mornings ago it got stuck in the menu after being taken out of standby. The menu even animated, but I could not navigate anywhere, Only avenue of escape was to powercycle.
