Hi I bought the SB Radio 3 weeks ago on amazon.co.uk as it seemed to be exactly what we needed in our house - the ability to listen to our choice of music without the hassle of CDs, MP3 players etc.
However so far for me it has turned out to be a brick. Straight out of the box the SB Radio couldn't find the signal from my Belkin Wireless G router. My technical savvy is limited to whatever google can tell me in simple terms, so after a bit of clicking I figured I needed to upgrade to a dual-band 2.4/5GHz 802.11n router (D-Link DIR-825). The internet says that a 5GHz signal is ideal for media streaming you see... The new router arrived after Christmas and now GBP300 later, I'm still not able to get the SB to connect (after finding this forum I now gather that the SB radio doesn't support 802.11n or 5GHz, so the new router was probably a waste of money) There is no security on the network (yet) and it is always visible on "Choose Network" menu screen with full reception, but whenever I try to connect I always get knocked back to the "Can't Connect" screen. I've followed the advice on mysqueezebox re. firewalls (as I'm running Vista with AVG free anti-virus, I figure only the Vista firewall needs configuration), but still nothing... One exception is when I restored to factory defaults, connected via an ethernet cable and then connected wirelessly with the ethernet cable still in - this worked and SB connected for one day until the connection drepped again never to return. I haven't had any issues connecting my laptop (64 bit Dell Studio running Vista) wirelessly to the network. There are other signals pinging around my house (telephone, video sender, baby monitors etc...) but if they were causing an issue surely I wouldnt be able to discover my network on the SB.... Anyone have any suggestions?
