In some rooms you don't need the stereo effect and for these the Radio will work great.

You will not get any official answer on this question because only Logitech knows and they don't comment future unreleased products. For my personal usage the Radio fits on my bedside table while the Boom is too large. I'm not sure the LCD on the Radio is easier to work with than the VFD display on the Boom, it's more colorful and looks nicer but from a usability point of view the main difference is only that you can see several lines simultaneously on the Radio.
