I don't suppose you are on 7.5? For me the alarm on (my regularly updated) 7.5 has become a bit of a pain. It doesn't really do anything I expect it to.
Small and quick catalogue: * Unintuitive usage * Alarms are different (not synched) on SBS and MSB * Updating alarm days is not reflected when you back out of the menu * Alarm wakes me up with wrong playlist and then it's painful to get the right playlist to play * I have to open my eyes and focus to operate it once it's gone off. Sleep is also flaky. There is no confirmation when you set sleep to (say) thirty minutes so you're never sure whether the setting has been accepted it or not. As it stands at this moment with 7.5 the radio is not really up to performing some of it's primary functions. But as it is beta software I live in hope that it is being improved.
