Unless you've set the "order" parameter it's placed behind the "clockimage" but in front of the "background". So if you have configured a "clockimage" and it isn't transparent png, it could be that the cover is placed behind it. I think you will need to have a png image, jpg files won't be transparent. You can try to hit the "Export" button for the style and post it here and I'll take a look at it.
