It looks like the current fonts for the Controller (and since the Radio and Touch use same underlying software, those as well) don't support Japanese and Chinese characters. There's an article on the "wiki" which suggests a method for adding fonts for the controller - should be similar process for the Radio. Probably not practical for most users to perform, however:
