I did think about building my own battery pack, but a quick search for tagged AA NiMh cells in the UK suggested I'd be paying £20+ just for the cells. It would take me at least a couple of hours to put it all together and test it and two hours of my time is worth at least £20 to me. So I just gave in and ordered it from Logitech.
