I believe that's true. I haven't run V7.5 against my Radio, but I've played with SqueezePlay v7.5 and it seems to work there when emulating a Radio. Another option is to use Erland's Custom Clock applet, where you can create a custom "now playing" screen. I am using a Custom Clock screen on my Radio with a small album art picture (with no apparent "cropping of the picture) which also allows me to see a reasonable sized clock at the same time.
