That's rather lame, IMO. I understand & support the idea of proof of purchase, rules are rules. But when it is OBVIOUS that a product cannot be past it's warranty period (1 yr warranty, first product sales less than six months ago) then this just flies in the face of reason and common sense. Did you try emailing US support?
