Yes, I discovered that feature only by accident, too, when I was transferring video cassettes to my PC and had tapes, various remote controls, and other stuff lying around. I put the Boom remote aside and - Clunk! - it clinged to the case of my VCR. I was quite shocked.
No doubt it's a nice idea and many users will like that they can stick the remote to a whiteboard or to the door of their fridge.
