It sounds like you may be confusing the SB Touch remote with the SB
Touch player. The $20 remote that mnyb referred to is an infrared
remote, much like the remotes you've been looking at for your SB Radio.
The main difference is that the SB Touch remote is bigger, and therefore
accommodates additional buttons, including alphanumeric buttons (like a
cell phone). It does not have any screen. It is available now. I'll see
if I can find a photo of the Touch's infrared remote.

The SB Touch _player_ is the successor to the SB Classic. It has not
been released yet, and when it is it will cost US$300. The "normal" use
for the SB Touch is to connect it to your audio system. You can control
the SB Touch using the built-in touchscreen, or the included infrared
remote (see paragraph above), or the SB Duet Controller. You can also
use the SB Touch to control other SBs, such as an SB Radio, but I think
very few users would buy a Touch solely as a controller for other SBs.

With that background, to answer your questions:
1) I've controlled the SB Radio with both the infrared remote ($20) and
the SB Touch itself ($300). Either works okay, but for me the IR remote
is much more useful because my Radio and Touch are in different rooms.
(I have a Touch because I'm one of the beta testers.)

2) The interface on the SB Touch player is the same as the SB Radio
screen, except much larger, and it's a touchscreen. The SB Touch
infrared remote has no screen, just buttons.

3) The SB Touch has no batteries, it runs off of standard AC power. The
SB Touch IR remote uses two standard batteries, but I forget whether
they're AA or AAA.

NB: For most people on the forum, SBR=SB Duet Receiver, not SB Radio.
