aussiebill,i'd definately check your router.....what make is it and how
old is it?.
i use a Belkin N+,and don't have any wireless issues........listening
to my Transporter downstairs now via wireless @ 92% signal strength.

don't throw the "Baby" out with the bathwater mate! :)
