Don't connect them to the back, that's the line IN jack. You have to connect them to the side, which is the headphone jack. The speakers will have to be self-powered. What to recommend depends on the size of the room, your personal tastes (including do you want a sub-woofer or not), and most of all, your budget. A lot of people like the Audioengine A2 speakers, which sell for around US$200.
