Glad you got it working. You can schedule a rescan of new and changed music at a specific time very day. I.e. after the podcast is downloaded. It shouldn't take too long even on a slower pc.
I think some podcast software also creates a podcast playlist for you. You could set SqueezeBox Server to rescan only playlists too. Any files referenced by a playlist that is not in the library should be added too.
