Correct - the station managers do not want any easy way to bypass their
ads or avoid promotions/competitions and probably gathering additional
info on their listeners which can be used to justify advertising
rates.

The BBC iPlayer app does a similar job for BBC radio - it can play
Flash Audio / AAC on Radio/Touch.  However players are usually tied to
specific streams so BBC iPlayer app would need to be modified to play
other Flash Audio streams.  This is possible as the Flash protocol has
been published by Adobe but if the station is using an encryption
option then it is not legal to create an app or plugin to play the
stream.

There may be a workaround if the station can be played on a
iPod/iPhone/iTouch/iPad as this means there is an hidden normal
streaming URL.  THis URL can be used on SB players.
