So I finished my project tonight. I've attached photos from all stages. Some notes on what they are:
I started out with a Philco 38-39 tube radio case (made in 1938) that I bought on Ebay for $20. It wasn't in the greatest condition, so I stripped off its finish and re-finished it. I then added metal detailing with silver leaf. I took apart the squeezebox radio using the suggestions in this thread (partially, at least). I repainted the face plate and silver leafed it. I cut out a part of the wood front of the radio case, and attached the faceplate using lots of epoxy putty. I then took some metal knobs from a 1940s Chevy dashboard and attached them using epoxy to the squeezebox knobs. The top three buttons are attached to the center knob, volume, and power button. the lower three knobs aren't attached to anything but the case, they're just decorative. Finally, to finish it I wired some 3mm amber LEDs to 3V batteries and installed them in the decorative knobs. This sort of mimics the glow from vacuum tubes that I really like. That's about it.
