There are both plugins, which run on Squeezebox Server, and applets,
which run on the Radio itself. There are quite a few applets, mostly
that allow you customize the information displayed on the Radio's LCD
screen. Most of them can also be used on the Touch. You can find out
more about them from the various sub-forums, especially 3rd Party
Plugins, SB Radio, and SB Touch.

I think the general view about the alarm is that if you rely on
mysqueezebox.com (instead of running a local Squeezebox Server), the
alarm is hopeless. If you run a local server then the reviews are
mixed. I run a local server, and in the six months I used the SB Radio
for my daily alarm (4-5 days/week) it went off on time, every time. Not
everyone has such happy experiences. If you are running a local SBS, try
it out, but for "mission critical" alarms like job interview or picking
up spouse at airport, it's best to have a backup until you are sure you
can trust the SB Radio.
